Product description
Easily create regular, structured wool weaves with this natural Peg Loom wooden loom.
This "Peg Loom" wooden loom works with 10 removable sticks measuring 15 cm and 8 mm in diameter, and enables simple weaving, perfect for wool.
How to use this wooden loom?
- To get started, prepare a sturdy warp thread (the vertical wires), as it will be put under tension. Allow for about twice the desired final length.
- Using a hook (or needle), pass this thread through the hole at the base of each stick: the thread should remain double.
- Install the sticks in the base: the number of sticks used determines the width of your work.
- To weave, take your wool (ideally fairly thick and a little irregular for a well-textured finish) and secure the end with a simple loop on a central stick.
- Pass the wool back and forth, alternating between the front and back of each stick. Once you've reached the last stick, wrap it around and start again in the opposite direction, reversing the alternation (if you went in front in the previous row, go behind). Be careful not to overtighten: excessive tension will cause the work to shrink when removed from the loom.
- When you've woven a good height, free up space by removing a stick, sliding the weave down over the warp threads, then replacing the stick.
- Repeat on each stick, then continue until you reach the desired length.
- To finish, remove the sticks: the work remains on the warp threads. Secure with knots to prevent the weave from unravelling. After knotting, pack the wool well downwards to hide the warp threads and give it hold.
