How do you make a soy wax candle?
Making soy wax candles is a very simple and enjoyable activity. Unlike beeswax, soy wax has a pleasant smell and melts at a lower temperature. It is therefore easier and quicker to use. Conversely, it will be consumed a little faster than beeswax. The other difference is in the cleaning process. Beeswax is very difficult to remove from surfaces and is not miscible with water, so cleaning with soap will not be very effective. Soy wax, on the other hand, is easier to clean with soap and water. Soy wax is easier to clean with soap and water, and is a beautiful white colour, whereas beeswax is yellow. Of course other waxes and wax mixtures exist with their own particularities.
If you perhaps already knew the fashion of candles decorated with dried flowers, perhaps you did not yet know the DIY of candles with semi-precious stones? This new trend gives candles a very relaxing look thanks to beautifully coloured natural stones. Lithotherapy addicts will be able to choose stones that correspond to their needs, here it is tinted Aventurine, but even without it, this DIY is very pleasant to look at. The flame of the candle melts the wax which becomes transparent and reveals the gemstones.
Be careful, however, to choose real stones, because the heat will melt the resin and plastic!
If you wish to add candle scent, do so after removing the water bath container from the pan. If you want to add essential oil instead of perfume, be sure to ask about it, as not all essential oils can be used for candles, especially as essential oils have a very low combustion temperature so you should add them when the temperature of the wax drops below the flash point temperature of the essential oil. This temperature depends from one essential oil to another.
Last recommendation: Be careful not to burn yourself and make your candles with the kitchen hood lit and in a ventilated room. Do not abuse the use of candles, because any smoke, regardless of its origin, creates microparticles that are harmful to your health in the long term.
