Step 1
Cut a piece of green clay to form the largest ball, then just a little less brown clay, a tiny red, then yellow, and a micro-ball of black. When working with this clay, it will crumble completely at first, so you'll need to press the ends together to obtain a smooth clay for modelling.
Step 2
Cut off a quarter of the green ball, set it aside and use these quantities to form 2 smooth balls. Stretch the balls into cylinders, rounded at the ends. Use the crowbar tool to engrave the cylinders along their length.
Use the tip of a scalpel to make cross cuts to mimic the texture of cactus thorns. Cut the smaller cylinder at an angle, make a flat cut with the cutter on the larger cylinder and press firmly to glue the 2 parts together.
Step 3
Take a tiny red ball, make 2 cross-shaped cuts, then with the tip of your tool, crush each part to form 4 petals. Add a yellow ball to the center, place your flower on the cactus and press to adhere.
Step 4
Add two small black balls to make the eyes and a line of clay to form the mouth.
Step 5
Push the tip of a pencil into the ball of brown clay without going through it. Make a hollow with the ball tool to insert the cactus. Using a thin, flat tool like a ruler, mark the outline of the pot, then make triangles on the sides by marking the clay.
Make sure all parts are in contact and bake at 120 degrees for 30 minutes. Wait for your gum to cool before using.
