This oxidizing solution is used in a bath or locally on the area to be treated to age silver, darken an engraving or hollow and give a beautiful patina to your silver, copper and bronze parts.
Note that it will not work on brass, or only very slightly.
Composition of the product, also known as "Sulfur Liver":
- Purified sulfur: 18
- Calcium oxide (commonly known as "quicklime"): 7.5
- Water: 74.5%.
Don't be fooled by its smell: this product is non-toxic and can be disposed of in waste water.
How to use Sulfur Liver to blacken an engraving or patina a silver element?
1. Add half a teaspoon to a liter of hot water (70-80°).
2. Use tweezers to soak the jewel for 30 seconds to 2 minutes. You can also use a brush to apply the liquid directly to the area to be treated - a single drop is all you need.
3. Remove the jewel when its color turns bluish-black.
4. Run the jewel under water to stop the reaction.
5. As soon as the parts are completely blackened, apply the polishing clay using a clean cotton cloth. Rub vigorously to remove oxidation from raised areas. Then wipe off with a soft, clean cloth.
We recommend testing the product before use.
