What is zoïsite ruby?

Zoïsite ruby is a natural stone whose name comes from the Latin "rubeus" meaning "red" and the name of mineralogist Sigmunf Zois.
Austrian geologist Sigmund Zois is said to have been the first to discover this fine stone. But it was German geologist Abraham Gottlob Werner who officially described it. He paid tribute to his predecessor by naming the stone "ruby zoïsite".
The other name for this natural stone (formerly part of the classification of semi-precious stones) isAnyolite, which refers to the green color in the Masai language.

The origin of ruby zoïsite

Very little is known about the history of this stone. It is present in the oral tradition of East African tribes, where it is considered a magical green stone with the power to protect hunters from the dangers of nature by making them invisible.
It was also used to adorn the jewels of kings and aristocrats, such as Saint-Louis, Charles V and the Duc de Berry.

What are the properties of zoïsite ruby?

Zoïsite ruby combines two types of stone, so it has two properties. It has a hardness of 9 on the Mohs scale for ruby (making it one of the hardest stones after diamond) and a hardness of between 6 and 6.5 on the Mohs scale for the zoïsite part.

How to purify and recharge zoïsite ruby?

Like all gemstones, lithotherapists recommend regular purification and recharging of zoïsite ruby, to restore its properties and virtues.
To purify it, simply immerse it in spring water for a few hours. Then dry it thoroughly with a soft cloth. You can also use fumigation, by surrounding your fine stone with sage or incense smoke.
To recharge, place the ruby zoïsite stone under the soft, regenerating light of the moon overnight. To amplify this process, place it on a quartz cluster or amethyst geode.
