What is the significance of rose quartz?

This fine stone takes its name from "quaterz" meaning "bad ore". Others explain the origins of its name by the German word "gewärtz", meaning "germ" and "growth". In the Middle Ages, the word "quartz" was used to designate all minerals, regardless of their origin or composition.
It was nicknamed the stone of love.

The origins of rose quartz

Since the dawn of time, this natural stone has been linked to love and the heart, so it's hardly surprising that many civilizations associate it with the gods and goddesses of love, beauty and motherhood.
In Greek mythology, rose quartz is said to have been created by the blood of the goddess of beauty and love, Aphrodite. For the Greeks and Romans, this pink stone came from the gods of love,Amor and Eros, who brought it to earth to spread love and peace. In the Muslim religion and among the Indians, it is associated with the maternal deity.

The Egyptians used it in a very different way. They believed in its power to combat aging. They ground the gemstone into powder to make masks with the ability to remove wrinkles.

Finally, rose quartz is linked to the Mayan legend of the 13 crystal skulls. This legend recounts that 13 skulls carved from different crystals were handed down by celestial creatures. They will have to be reunited (for the moment, they are scattered in various museums around the world) to unveil life's greatest mystery to mankind. On the border between Honduras and Rose Quartz, archaeologists have found one of them carved in rose quartz.

What are the benefits of rose quartz?

In lithotherapy, rose quartz is associated with love and compassion. The virtues of rose quartz are said to be soothing. It soothes the heart, promotes self-love and strengthens relationships. Some also believe that this pink stone balances emotions, reduces stress, brings tenderness to its wearer and promotes inner peace and openness of heart.

Lithotherapists recommend placing rose quartz on the heart chakra during meditation or energy work. The gemstone promotes unconditional love, self-acceptance, harmony and compassion for others.

Please note: our gemstones are not sold for lithotherapy. The effects of stones have not been scientifically proven. Natural stones are no substitute for medical expertise or treatment.

How do I activate the power of rose quartz?

Like all natural stones, it needs to be purified and recharged to rid itself of any accumulated negative waves and regain its full energy.
To cleanse it, simply immerse it for a few hours in a container of salted distilled water. You can also use earth or incense fumigations.
Once purified, rose quartz should be recharged under the rays of the sun or moon. To optimize this action, you can place your gemstone on a crystal cluster or amethyst geode.

How to wear rose quartz

Cool tones perfectly enhance the soft color of this pink stone. It goes very well with 925 silver or stainless steel. But if you're more into gold, there's nothing to stop you mounting your rose quartz stone on jewelry primers in gold filled (rolled gold), gold plated, 925 silver gilded with 24K fine gold or gilded stainless steel. It's all a matter of taste.

Rose quartz is a soft stone that goes well with soothing stones such as amethyst, green aventurine, moonstone, rhodonite, rock crystal, rhodochrosite, chrysocolla, labradorite or pink tourmaline.
Which stones should not be combined? Turquoise, onyx, obsidian, tiger's eye, ruby and amber are too powerful stones. Their energy would overpower rose quartz.
