But with a little training and perseverance, you will see the pearl spiral will have no secrets for you!

Additional explanations for the video are at the bottom of the page.

DEBUTE THE SPIRAL OF PEARLS IN THE HOOK

Now that you have a good look at the pattern of the necklace and you have prepared your material, you may be wondering how to put the beads on for the crochet spiral? Do not panic, follow the steps below.

STEP 1 - Threading the first sequence of beads

You have to start by putting on the first sequence. To do this, use the indications in the columns named "List of Beads" in the diagram.

Start at the top of the left column, thread the beads following the color indications to the bottom of this column, then go up to put the second column. You get 2 white- 1 pink -2 white -1 dark gray -2 white -1 pink etc.

Continue to follow the threading instructions to the bottom of this first column. Then continue threading as shown in the second column: 5 white - 1 dark gray - 5 white - 1 dark gray. Your first threading sequence is complete.

You can imagine, at this point, there are not enough pearls to make a necklace or even a bracelet. We must continue the threading by repeating the indications in the left column, from top to bottom, that is 2 dark gray - 1 pink - 2 dark gray - 1 white, etc.

For the realization of the spiral of the video, 38 sequences were necessary.

Achievement tip : You can put all the pearls in one go but it can be long and tedious. If you wish, you can put on 10 sequences and start crocheting. You will see the pattern go up and it's very motivating!

STEP 2 - Start picking

When do we start crocheting? Well, there are several ways to do it:

  • you can pick a few rows without pearls,
  • either we start with bigger pearls (like 8/0 seed beads),
  • either we realize several rows of different colors.

The beginning is the same whatever the way. start by making a chain of 12 stitches, with or without pearls, and close in circles.

Then start crocheting the last strung beads. To help you, you can follow the "draft" grid by reading it from left to right, going up. This "draft" grid makes it easier to identify threading errors.

Know that the beginning of a spiral is not always very beautiful and it does not matter. For example, the ends will be hidden in the tips. Or else there is another solution: you can cut the first ranks, no problem, the spiral will not break!

How to crochet a spiral bead with the technique of the tight mesh?

In the video, the hook point used is the close stitch.

First, you stitch your hook in the stitch of the previous row either by stitching in the entire stitch the "v" or by stitching under the outside strand, as in the video). Then place the bead on the right side of the hook and make the stitch tight. Then, go to the next stitch and continue on. The pearls are placed obliquely.

How to crochet a beaded spiral with the technique of the slip stitch?

For the slip stitch, stitch your crochet hook in the stitch of the previous row, place the bead on the right of the hook and make a throw on the hook and pull. Then go to the next stitch and continue on. The pearls are placed flat, horizontally.

STEP 3 - How to make the finishes of a crochet spiral?

Once you have achieved the desired length, you can move on to the finishes.

For a finish with ring tips , measure the diameter of your spiral and choose a matching tip. Then, using jewelery glue (such as Hasulith glue), put glue in the tips and insert the end of the spiral. Then add an open ring to secure the clasp.

For a finish with tips with a hole in the ends of your spiral, pass an eye rod where you will have an F4 or a round 4. Then, close the hole well with your thread and tighten well. Put some glue in your mouthpiece, put it in the stem and make a loop. You can put the clasp of your choice.

We hope all these tips will allow you to get started and make beautiful jewelry with the technique of the spiral crochet. We like to see what you do with the tutorials on Perles & Co. Bonjour, vous voulez dire du fil de 0.12mm ou du 12mm ?
