Content not accessible
The most problematic user impacts concern the site's overall navigation, forms and interactive components, whose structure and operation are inaccessible.
The following sections of the site are affected by the greatest number of accessibility problems:
- Navigation and overall page structure (header and footer) due to incorrect HTML development;
- Pages with forms (including: registration, order tunnel);
- Pages with interactive components (scripts, including product pages).
Examples of site non-conformities
The analysis audit identified the following non-conformities:
Images
- Some information-carrying images lack text alternatives (e.g. payment logos, social network logos, banners, carousels);
- Some decorative images are not correctly ignored by assistive technologies (e.g. colored bead images, "What's New" inserts, "Promotions" inserts);
- Some information-carrying images have no relevant textual alternative (e.g. logos, posters, text images).
- Some information-carrying images, reproducible in HTML, are not replaced by stylized text (e.g. "New colors - Set of leaf pendants
colors - Set of leaf pendants")
Frames
- At least one frame does not have a frame title (e.g. Google OAuth Iframe, Chatbot Iframe) - Page(s) concerned: Global Layout.
Colors
- Some graphic elements only convey certain information through color (e.g. login/registration steps, missing characters in password);
- Some text or graphic elements carrying information do not have sufficient contrast (e.g.: images in the "Autumn Light" carousel, "Monthly specials").
Multimedia
- Some videos are not provided with synchronized subtitles (e.g. videos integrated into Tutorials pages);
- Some videos are not clearly identified or announced (e.g. videos embedded in Tutorials pages).
Links
- Some links do not have an explicit title (e.g.: back to home link, shopping cart links, footer links, social network links, fake links).
Scripts
- Some scripts are not compatible with assistive technologies (e.g. menus, cookie buttons);
- Some scripts are not keyboard-controllable (e.g. menus, interactive buttons);
- The user is not warned of a context change (e.g.: opening of "Login", "Chatbot");
- Certain status messages are not correctly rendered to assistive technologies (e.g.: adding an item to the shopping cart, incrementing the total price).
Mandatory elements
- Some page titles are not relevant (e.g. Registration and Order pages);
- Certain foreign-language words are not declared as such (e.g. "Best Sellers");
- Some tags are misused (e.g. <div> instead of <p>, <h>, <button>).
Structuring
- The document's title structure is inconsistent (e.g.: title "Online supplier of beads and accessories" in H3);
- Document structure is inconsistent or missing elements (e.g. <header>, <nav>, <main>, <footer> are missing);
- Some element sequences are not declared as lists (e.g. Product Menu, breadcrumb trail, footer).
Presentation
- Information-carrying elements integrated by style sheets are inaccessible to screen readers (e.g. background-image, ::before, ::after);
- CSS deactivation leads to confusion or loss of information (e.g.: undeclared links, loss of list format, source code order);
- Links in text environments are not easily identifiable (e.g. pink links on blue background);
- Focus visibility is impaired (e.g. links, buttons, fields);
- Some content is unduly hidden from assistive technologies (e.g. payment images);
- Some information is conveyed only by shape, size or position (e.g. active page, active filters, pagination).
Forms
- Some form fields have no label attached, or an irrelevant label (e.g. "Quantity" field, "Compatible with" field);
- Some sets of similar fields are not grouped together in a captioned fieldset (e.g. Professional registration,
creative preferences, newsletter); - Some button labels are absent or insufficiently precise (e.g.: "Search" button, "Newsletter");
- Input controls are absent, insufficient or irrelevant (e.g. mandatory fields, errors not reported);
- Input fields in error, which expect a particular format, are not accompanied by a real input example (e.g. Quantity field, Postcode, Telephone, Mail);
- Fields expecting personal data are not identified (e.g. Surname, First name, Address, Postcode, City).
Navigation
- At least one area of the page is not correctly declared, making it impossible to find and avoid (e.g.: absence of landmarks);
- No quick access links are present throughout the site (e.g. quick access to content, menu, search);
- The tab order is not consistent (e.g.: opening of the "At the moment" and "Products" sub-menus);
- Some additional content is not accessible from the keyboard (e.g.: submenus, RGPD cookie banner);
Consultation
- Some office documents are not natively accessible and have no accessible alternative (e.g. PDF tutorials,
REACH compliance certificates).
Please see the RGAA audit grid for details of the audit carried out.
