Silver-finish brass fibula
What is a fibula?
A fibula is a rod, usually made of metal. In the past, it was used as a fastener to secure clothing. For this reason, it is often considered the ancestor of the safety pin.
More sophisticated fibulae were adorned with precious stones and used as ornaments.
To avoid injury, the fibula stem ends in a ball on one side, and a removable tip on the other.
Wondering how to make a fibula? You can turn your fibula into costume jewelry. Nothing could be simpler: simply string your favorite beads along the stem, playing with shapes and colors. You can also add charms, tassels and chains.... Let your creativity run wild!
Once you've finished your creation, secure it with a stopperbead.
How do I put a fibula on?
- You can prick it into a hat.
- It will look great in an elegant chignon at a wedding.
- It can also be used to fasten a garment such as an open vest or scarf.
- Use it, for example, as a simple brooch using the brickstitch weaving technique.
